<p/><br></br><p><b> Book Synopsis </b></p></br></br>On October 11-13, 2018, Southeast Missouri State University's Center for Faulkner Studies hosted "Faulkner and Garcia Marquez," a three-day conference devoted to the writings and connections of Nobel Prize winners William Faulkner and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The conference featured presentations by thirty-two from fourteen different U.S. states and three foreign countries (Brazil, Taiwan, and Japan). The essays in this book represent expanded versions of some of the outstanding presentations at the conference.<p/><br></br><p><b> About the Author </b></p></br></br><b>Andrew Leiter </b>earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama, and he completed his graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the author of essays on Erskine Caldwell and Flannery O'Connor, as well as <i>In the Shadow of the Black Beast: African American Masculinity in the Harlem and Southern Renaissances </i>(LSU Press, 2010). He is editor of <i>Southerners on Film: Essays on Hollywood Portrayals Since the 1970s</i> (McFarland, 2011). <b>Dr. Christopher Rieger</b>, Professor of English, joined the Southeast Missouri State University faculty in 2007. He has been the Director of the Center for Faulkner Studies since 2013. He is the author of <i>Clear-Cutting Eden: Ecology and the Pastoral in Southern Literature</i>, published in 2009 by the University of Alabama Press. He is also the coeditor of the essay collections<i> Faulkner and Chopin</i> (2010), <i>Faulkner and Morrison </i>(2013), <i>Faulkner and Warren</i> (2015) and<i> Faulkner and Hurston </i>(2016).
