<p/><br></br><p><b> Book Synopsis </b></p></br></br><p><br></p><p>After farming in Ontario, Canada, for over 20 years, Kenneth McKenzie, an</p><p>immigrant from Inverness-shire, Scotland, travelled from Guelph, Ontario to</p><p>Burnside, west of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, several times from 1867 to 1870, </p><p>establishing one of the first farms in the area.</p><p><br></p><p>The Diary covers four of these trips and the work that went into establishing</p><p>a home and farm at Burnside. This was at a crossroads in history with first a</p><p>provisional government lead by Louis Riel, and then the establishment of the</p><p>Manitoba Government in 1870.</p>
