She authored many books, including <i>The Sacred Hoop: Recovering the Feminine in American Indian Tradition, </i> and was the editor of <i>Spider Woman's Granddaughters: Traditional Tales and Contemporary Writing by Native American Women</i>, which won an American Book Award in 1990.
