Diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1995, she subsequently underwent stem-cell transplantation, which led to developing a mindfulness-based intervention for bone marrow transplant patients at UMass Medical Center, Emery University and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
