For a children's book to be effective as a teaching tool, it has to convey its meanings through its illustrations. But what an ingenious idea to include QR codes so the reader can download sound effects as well! Through her books, I'm getting an education about loons. In this one, Lonnie learns the different sounds loons make and when they make them. And thanks to the QR codes, I know what those calls sound like. It really is a complete experience for a children's book that one rarely sees.
