<p/><br></br><p><b> Book Synopsis </b></p></br></br><i>China-US Journal of Humanities</i> focuses on communications and exchanges in humanities studies between China and the US and serves to build an academic platform for cross-cultural understanding and exchanges in the era of globalization. It examines cultural exchanges between China and the US in the broad realms of the humanities, including comparative studies of Chinese and American literature, history, philosophy, religion, economics, and politics; teaching Chinese as a foreign language and teaching Chinese culture in the US; studies of Chinese Americans, and other topics. It aims to create a cultural dialogue to enhance mutual understanding and support between two world powers--China and the US--at a historical juncture when economic and political tensions between these two are on the rise.<p/><br></br><p><b> About the Author </b></p></br></br><b>Professor Chu Chengzhi</b> is an associate professor of Chinese at University of California, Davis. He got his Ph.D. from the University of Haiwaii. His research fields include Chinese linguistics, cognitive semantics, Chinese as a second language, and the application of computer technology in language instruction. He has compiled five Chinese textbooks and authored one monograph. <b>Zeng Hong </b>is a professor of English and Comparative Literature at Southwest Jiaotong University. She was awarded her first Ph.D. in English and American literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University and her second PhD. in Comparative Literature from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She was a tenure-track assistant and associate professor for 13 years in American universities before beginning her work with Southwest Jiaotong University. She published five books in the US, including <i>Semiotics of Exile in Literature</i> and <i>Semiotics of Exile in Contemporary Chinese Film</i>. <b>Professor Li Chengjian</b> is dean of the Foreign Languages School at Southwest Jiaotong University. She was awarded her Ph.D. in 2004 in English Language and Literature from Zhongshan University, Guangzhou. Her main academic interests are British poetry and Irish literature studies. Her monographs include <i>A British-Irish Poet: Seamus Heaney</i> and <i>A Study on Contemporary Irish Drama</i>. She has published more than 30 papers in major Chinese journals.
