Each spread gives a brief physical description of a planet (the moon and asteroids are covered as well) and provides an interesting piece of trivia pertaining to it. A black background nicely contrasts with the large-type white text. Clearly written, it has an occasional word that may prove challenging to younger audiences. In his discussion of the sun Simon says, "If Earth were the size of a basketball, the sun would be as big as a basketball court." It's unfortunate that there aren't more comparisons of size and scale like this one. The colorful close-up photographs of the planets are superb. --- School Library Journal
