As originally produced for and aired on the BBC in 2008, this feature stars Sean Bean (TROY) as Richard Sharpe, a Lieutenant Colonel in India circa 1818 - the era of British Colonialism. He's journeying across the country alongside colleague Sergeant Major Patrick Harper (Daragh O'Malley), on a mission to co-escort the gorgeous Marie-Angelique Bonnet (Beatrice Rosen) to meet her fiancé. Unfortunately, this means trekking across deadly badlands, rife with hundreds of bandits. In the process, Richard, Patrick and Marie-Angelique run into a ragged, motley group of soldiers led by a man named Beauclaire (Luke Ward-Wilkinson) , and Sharpe must help deliver its men from the clutches of the evil bandit Chitu (Ulhad Tayas) to the safe arms of the next army garrison. What Sharpe doesn't realize is that he's on the verge of discovering one of the largest opium-trafficking operations in India.
