This dramatic bamboo, black, and brown feather hat, known as a juju hat or tyn, is crafted for Bamoun, Bamileke, and Tikar chiefs, dignitaries, and important dancers to wear as a striking headdress during celebrations and ritual ceremonies. The large, round body is made from mocha brown and black-colored chicken feathers, representing prosperity and wealth, hand-sewn into a curved raffia fiber base with bamboo for added structure around the head. The feathers jut out into a large, soft orb that can be neatly folded in for compact storage. Each one-of-a-kind juju hat is handcrafted in Cameroon.
