Then I learned granny square from a neighbor lady.I didn't do much other than make an afghan. I embroidered and hand quilted for 5 years. Never crocheted again until I designed my first shawl in 1978 & then I never crocheted again until early 80s. Needed an easy hobby in the truck so got yarn at a store in WY and taught myself the stitches needed. Made for family and charity items back then. I decided thread was a must, as I fell in love with thread work when I was a little girl. I got a bad doily pattern and decided to just make up the rest of the design as I went, and that stuck. I've been designing continually since 1985. Sold first 2 patterns for 2010 Crochet World and Crochet! presents Celebrate The Season special edition. I still knit on and off which is also self taught.
