He worked for Warner Brothers, Disney, and Columbia as an animator; wrote gags for Lucille Ball and the Marx Brothers; and directed several films, including <i>The Girl Can't Help It </i>and <i>Rock-a-Bye-Baby.</i> His illustrated books, including <i>The Bear That Wasn't, </i> are satirical in nature and appeal to adults as well as children.
