The book was published in 1908 and has never been out of print. Illustrator <b>Robert Ingpen</b> studied illustration and book design at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. In 1986 he received the Hans Christian Andersen Award for his contribution to children's literature, and he was recently honored with the Membership of the Order of Australia.
