Song for My Father is the crown jewel of Horace Silver's catalog of hard bop classics. It's dedicated to his father and is inspired partly by his Cape Verdean heritage. Two tracks are from a session with Blue Mitchell, Junior Cook, Gene Taylor and Roy Brooks. Four cuts are from a session with Carmell Jones, Joe Henderson, Teddy Smith and Roger Humphries. Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Optimal. <br/>
