For little movers ages 4 years and up.

Sally Ann just has to move. She can't keep still; it's not her groove. When her fidgeting causes a mess, she wonders how to fidget less. The principal knows just what to do. She gives Sally Ann a tip or two!

Review Quotes

This book could be very helpful for those fidgety kids out there, as well as those who aren't fidgety but can better understand their friend. I love that it teaches a mindfulness tactic in a fun way and helps explain to the children that their fidgets do not define them. - Santaquin City Library
A cute little story for children who fidget. Provides a tip to help them control their impulses. Let's children see they aren't alone when they can't keep still. - Bartle School
There is a very tight line to tread here between pathologizing Sally Ann for her need to move and fidget and acknowledging how disruptive and destructive that can be, especially in a classroom setting. I did appreciate that, when Sally Ann was sent to the principal, he responded with empathy and taught her a mindfulness technique to help manage the urge to fidget. However, that was the only strategy presented and I didn't catch any attempts to make her classroom environment adaptive, so I'm a little concerned that Sally Ann is still being labeled wrong or as a problem. I would proceed with caution trying this book in class and maybe run it by the school psychologist or special education team first. The illustrations were very lively and the rhyming stanzas generally worked well. This would be appropriate for pre-K and early elementary reading. - Bookworks

About the Author

Howard Pearlstein is a picture book author and advertising creative director who has worked on some of the world's most popular brands, including Toyota, Verizon and Mitsubishi.
