Journey with Annie as she explores the waters of the world in this sturdy oversized board book with some aquatic animals she found washed up on the beach. As she travels to an ocean, river, coral reef, wetlands, mangrove, and lake, she finds the perfect habitat for each of the animals. Along the way, we learn about each of these aquatic environments, and travel the globe. Take Me Home: Waters of the World is packed with great information presented in an accessible way to preschool-elementary aged kids. ―Kids Read the World

"Take Me Home: Waters of the World" (9788000059440, $14.95, HC, 26pp) is a delightfully entertaining and informative compendium facts about bodies of water from around the globe, pointing out the animals and plants found in them, as well as the unique features and inner workings of these environments ranging from polar waters to the Amazon river -- and finding out which one is the right one for each of them, as well as what happens after they reach their final destination! ―Midwest Book Review

"This book was greatly enjoyable. The illustrations were colorful and adorable in depicting the wildlife. The narration was for older elementary, but I think younger children could also learn and be entertained by the content within the book. It's a great introduction into conservation, helping the environment, and learning about the world. I would greatly look forward to other selections by this author and illustrator! I will recommend this to my coworkers at our library! "― Jordan Gray, Librarian

"An informative book incorporated within a story. We not only learn more about the locations but also the animals that live there. There are so many kinds of habitats out there which makes this book a good intro for children. The illustrations are cute to look ate but perhaps the guidance of an adult can be there to explore each page in depth." ― Sally Xiong, Blogger

"TAKE ME HOME: WATERS OF THE WORLD is an engaging nonfiction picture book that teaches basics and fun facts about oceans, lakes, and rivers. The book is written in a way that is part story, with characters showing the reader around, and part facts with fun details about animals, waters, and plants throughout. There is a lot to learn in these intriguing and easily digestible facts found on every page.
What I loved: There is so much to learn in this book, and I loved all the cool facts included throughout. The book encompasses a lot of information about oceans, lakes, and rivers, with information about the waters themselves, such as the layers, and about the animals and plants that live within them. The presentation of these is particularly approachable with adorable fictional characters leading the readers to the information. It begins with different animals showing up on shore, and a young girl who is determined to take them all home - to the many different waters they call home.
The illustrations are fantastic throughout with a light cartoonish element that will appeal to young readers and so many cool details on each page. Together with the text, there is so much to learn! Animals and information come to life through the images.
The font is really easy to read throughout, and I appreciated that animals are labeled where they are pictured, whether or not they are accompanied by fun facts. The pages themselves are very durable as a light board book format that would make this a great book for classrooms and for sharing. This book would be a great start to learning about bodies of water and the many things that live there- perfect for children who love learning cool facts!
Final verdict: With an engaging presentation and detailed illustrations, TAKE ME HOME: WATERS OF THE WORLD is a great choice to learn fun facts and as a springboard to studying oceans, lakes, and rivers and the creatures who live within them. Highly recommend for classrooms, libraries, and for budding ocean enthusiasts! "

―YA Books Central

"Charlie encounters animals that have been illegally smuggled away from their homes, and he determines to help them find their way back to their native forests. The panda goes back to the bamboo forest, the koala prefers a eucalyptus tree, the lemur finds a home in the spiny forest of Madagascar, and the sloth loves the heat of a tropical rainforest. There is even an otter who prefers the kelp forest underwater!

This book includes factoids about all types of forests. It has illustrations showing amazing animals and birds that live in each location. We learn about all the beautiful trees in each type of forest, and how the animals survive harsh climates.

I really liked the illustrations. The art style is soft and cartoony, and all the little animals are so cute! Each scene has dozens of animals and plants in the background, and they are all labeled so you can learn about them.

The pages of this book are thick, but not so thick as a board book. I like that the factoids are presented in little boxes around the page, making it easy to read. 4 out of 5 stars." ― Luminous Libro

About the Author

Pavla Hanáčková comes from a picturesque Moravian village that is surrounded by vineyards.
