This story is perfect fans of books such as <em>Room on the Broom</em> & <em>The Gruffalo</em> by Julia Donaldson, <em>The Worst Princess</em> & <em>Dogs Don't Do Ballet </em>by Anna Kemp, and <em>Dragons Love Tacos</em> by Adam Rubin.</p><p><strong>Read the Whole Story Below...</strong></p><p>For this story to begin, <br /> an introduction must be made.<br /> Our young lad's name is Colin, <br /> his Grandad's birthday is today.</p><p>With gift in hand and spring in step, <br /> young Colin made his way, <br /> to the old and rusty postbox that<br /> sat on Rathdowne Lane.</p><p>The postbox neared, he gave a grin<br /> as he picked up his pace...<br /> Instead he got all twisted up<br /> and fell flat on his face!</p><p>The stamps flew high, the gift flew low<br /> and then here comes a riddle, <br /> for from his pocket flying fast<br /> out shot a juicy pickle.</p><p>It hit the stamps and one stuck true<br /> then flew into the box...<br /> Colin leapt up and pulled the lid<br /> His eyes grew wide with shock!</p><p>Where should be letters piled high<br /> with stamps and envelopes, <br /> instead there was a staircase<br /> leading where? He did not know...</p><p>He jumped into the postbox<br /> and ran down those spiral stairs.<br /> There ahead he saw the pickle<br /> being carried by a... hare?!</p><p>A postage hare in uniform<br /> official as they come, <br /> was carrying that pickle<br /> at quite a speedy run.</p><p>It would not stop at Colin's shout<br /> so chase had to be made...<br /> Never had a stranger sight<br /> been seen 'neath Rathdowne Lane.</p><p>Postage Hares all stopped and stared<br /> as Colin chased and chased.<br /> That postage hare was faster than<br /> young Colin had ever faced.</p><p>Up and up and right and left<br /> and up and left and right.<br /> That pickle was almost in his reach, <br /> he reached with all his might!</p><p>His hand wrapped round that pickle, <br /> the hare let out a cry...<br /> It threw them out the tunnel<br /> and up into the sky!</p><p>And what a throw - so strong and true<br /> Over homes and trees and rocks.<br /> Colin landed perfectly<br /> Inside a letterbox!</p><p>Stuffed neat inside that box was he<br /> and feeling rather sad...<br /> The lid went up, two eyes looked down, <br /> The eyes of his Granddad!</p><p>Colin leapt up from that box<br /> Then sadly gave a sniff<br /> "I only have this pickle, <br /> I lost your birthday gift..."</p><p>Granddad laughed and hugged young Colin, <br /> giving him a tickle...<br /> he didn't care about the gift, <br /> he just said "I love pickles!"</p><p>Find it under: Bedtime Stories, Bedtime story, Kids Books, Books for Kids, Adventure Books for Kids, Picture Books for Kids.</p>
