David Brian stars as a philanderer who uses his charms to steal from the rich and famous in this incredible-but-true crime thriller costarring Marjorie Reynolds. Escaping from a Canadian prison, womanizer Gerard Dennis (Brian) heads to New York, where he uses his conquests to help rob the wealthy. Marrying a gullible nurse (Reynolds) who begs him to go straight, Dennis hops a train to the coast when she rats him out to the cops. Hooking up with the Hollywood crowd, Dennis proceeds to burgle the stars, as he keeps one eye out for the ladies and the other out for the law. Set between the years 1947 and 1948, when Dennis stole over one million dollars in jewels, The Great Jewel Robber was written by Borden Chase, whose credits include Red River and Winchester '73, and his daughter Barrie Chase, a dancer who gained fame as Fred Astaire's partner in his TV specials of the 1950s and '60s.
