How can you make adversity work for you, turning it into an advantage? Claudia shows you how you can manage your peak performance through adversity and increase your leadership adaptability, resilience and decision making, by mastering the Scenario Thinking Framework(TM). So that you can thrive, instead of survive, with fun and fulfilment as the reward.

ANTICIPATE, PREPARE AND ACTION NEXT STEPS The Scenario Thinking Framework(TM) is Claudia's signature and self developed leadership, problem solving tool, to help you shift from a current, unfavourable situation to a future, desired situation. Be inspired by the numerous real life examples and experiences Claudia shares from her work as an Executive Coach, and from her interview with fellow Dutchie, Carolijn Brouwer, winner of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017/18.

CLAUDIA LANTOS was no stranger to adversity herself, having had 3 concussions from sailing accidents, moving to different continents by herself twice, whilst setting up her own businesses, and recovery taking up to 2.5 yrs. The learnings she took from those events, together with the insights from many resilient and amazing leaders she worked with in her career, will help you to see your adversity in business as an advantage and with some humour, as she did, developing an advantageous mindset, gaining valuable insights and new approaches to tackle almost anything, coming out stronger.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

No-one likes adversity and Claudia Lantos is no exception. But while the bad times are never embraced at first, adversity has enabled Claudia to reinvent herself several times to her advantage. Over a period of around 10 years, adversity struck Claudia in the form of five car accidents--of one which took her about nine months to recover from--and three concussions from sailing accidents while building her coaching business in The Netherlands and later in Australia. Claudia has turned these hard knocks into brilliant insights for her clients and an advantageous mindset for herself. This book sums up her learnings to give anyone who wants to turn adversity to their advantage new approaches, to tackle anything that is thrown at them and come out stronger.

Combining her psychological and coaching training with her corporate executive search and legal background, Claudia has built excellent insight into corporate dynamics, leadership development and behavioural issues, servicing a wide range of organisations. In the last 25 years, Claudia prides herself in having worked with executive leaders and continued to consult them, through the bigger part of their careers.

As a former national-level sports enthusiast at karate and offshore sailing, and accredited in organisational coaching, she is specialised in executive coaching for high performers in leadership roles, focused on a strengths based, behavioural change and growth mindset approach, using the adult learning principles of positive psychology.

Claudia started her career as a Lawyer in Labour Law and IP in The Netherlands, Europe in 1993, and she has been a member of country management teams based in Amsterdam and Singapore for a UK-listed professional services group, setting up new business service offerings and building and managing small teams. She successfully led her own executive coaching and executive search business in the Netherlands for eight years, before settling down in Bondi Beach, Australia in 2012.

Review Quotes

PRAISE FOR THE ADVERSITY ADVANTAGE

"With The Adversity Advantage, Claudia Lantos has written a very generous book that shares profound and helpful insights from her (clearly very impactful) coaching practice. There are enough simple and yet powerful tips, tricks and life 'hacks' in this book to make a first reading very worthwhile for anyone trying to navigate the modern workplace, and some bigger ideas and useful tools that warrant a second reading."

Mandy Geddes, General Manager, Education, IECL by GrowthOps

"Claudia's book really resonated with me as it took me back to the many adversities I faced in my own life. In The Adversity Advantage, Claudia addresses some of the most compelling realities and needs of our times. Like the alchemist that turns lead into gold, Claudia's Scenario Thinking Framework(TM) offers a process to turn adversity into adaptability and resilience. This book is an essential read for coaches, managers and leaders."

Sebastian Salicru, Business Psychologist, Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Author of Leadership Results

"Claudia's narrative is accessible and practical. Her story is peppered with excellent examples throughout enabling the reader to relate and make sense of her messages. The distinction between High Performer and High Achiever is thought provoking and I look forward to exploring one of Claudia's key messages more for myself, 'only accept the status quo that is right for you.'"

Jane Porter, Head of Coaching and Education People & Leadership, GrowthOps and IECL by GrowthOps

"I am delighted that Claudia has decided to share her insight and experience with all people who wish to develop themselves, by writing this book. Claudia's unique ability to give intense focus on goals she sets for herself and get inspiration from long term targets is truly inspirational. In her book she combines personal encounters with adversity with the broader scope of challenges managers encounter in personal and professional life. A smooth read, with valuable take-aways."

Karin Koks - van der Sluijs, Non-executive and supervisory board member global real-estate

"Being in Executive Search myself I especially liked the part where high achievers are coached to become high performers. I also acknowledge that coaching is no longer a method to fix somebody's shortcomings, but nowadays seen as a reward, using Executive Coaching to do even better."

Ludo Houben, Owner Houben Executive Search
