During his time at Falmouth School of Art he entered the Macmillan Prize for Children's Illustration, winning a place in the final exhibition where his work was noticed by publishers and agents. He won the Blue Peter Award for his work on Geraldine McCaughrean's retelling of <i>Pilgrim's Progress</i>, and has been nominated for the Kate Greenaway award.
