About the Book

"A forgotten coast Florida suspense novel, Book 1"--Cover.

Book Synopsis

In Apalachicola, Florida, sinister things are afoot, as sinister things tend to be.Lt. Maggie Redmond is called to a crime scene on St. George Island, where she is met with the body of Gregory Boudreaux. The medical examiner calls it a suicide, but no one knows that Maggie has a horrible connection to the dead man. When Gregory's uncle, Bennett Boudreaux, the richest and scariest man in town, takes a sudden interest in Maggie, people start to wonder, Maggie included. Maggie knows he may suspect her of killing his nephew, but she finds herself slowly drawn to the man. As Maggie fights to help a young girl escape the clutches of a volatile drug dealer who'd love to see Maggie dead, she also struggles to hide her dark link to a dead man, and her burgeoning relationship with her boss, Sheriff Wyatt Hamilton. Unfortunately, secrets have a way of revealing themselves at low tide.

About the Author

I write Southern books. I was born and raised in Florida and now live in Tennessee. I couldn't take the South out of my writing if I wanted to, but I wouldn't dream of such a thing. Between its quirky, small towns dripping in atmosphere, and its collection of fascinating, funny and remarkable people, I could never get tired of making the South itself the main character in all of my books. I might write a quiet little love story set on a dirt road in Alabama (See You). Or a semi-noir, darkly funny and atmospheric suspense series set in Apalachicola, FL (The Forgotten Coast Florida Suspense series). Or a wryly funny, but ultimately sweet book about two outsiders in 1970s Alabama who find their places in the world when they find each other (the upcoming The Cricket Jar). These books have a lot in common, despite how different they might seem. They are all character-driven novels about people who are damaged but strong, deeply funny, and all the more beautiful because of their flaws. I love these people, from 90-year old Creole nanny Miss Evangeline, to the droll and honorable Jack Canfield, to strong but damaged cop Maggie Redmond, and even the hilariously inappropriate and dangerously charming bad guy, Bennett Boudreaux. I hope that you'll meet them all, and love them all as I do.
