He was awarded Critics' Circle Theatre Awards for Most Promising Playwright in 1996 and won an Academy Award for a short film <i>Six Shooter</i> in 2006 and has also been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for <i>In Bruges</i>.</p>
