Landrum, it was a distinct honor and privilege to serve side-by-side with some of the most talented and squared away police officers on the planet. It was equally satisfying to serve and protect the citizens of Los Angeles on a daily basis with pride, integrity, and guts. Particularly those victims that could not protect or defend themselves from the violence that plagued the streets of Los Angeles. In April 1992, while assigned to South Bureau Homicide, Detective Landrum investigated the cold-blooded rape/murder of a teenage victim by three gang members. Read about how he and his partner pursued those responsible, identified and arrested them. They were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Along the way, he survived the internal shenanigans attempted by several so-called leaders. In the end, he retired honorably from the LAPD and went on to become the first African American District Attorney Supervising Investigator in the County of San Bernardino, Office of the District Attorney-Bureau of Investigation. This is his story!<p/><br></br><p><b> About the Author </b></p></br></br>The author, Maurice L. Landrum worked 34 years in law enforcement. He began his career with the Los Angeles Police Department, where he worked a variety of Patrol, Specialized Units, as well as, the CRASH Gang Unit, Homicide as a detective, and numerous supervisory assignments as a supervisor. <p/>He attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and the University of Phoenix where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice and Security. As a police officer, detective and supervisor, he has attended numerous supervisory, command and executive leadership schools. He is a graduate of the Los Angeles Police Department WestPoint Leadership Program and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association Trilogy Program. <p/>In October 2004, he was hired by the San Bernardino County District Attorney Office, Bureau of Investigation as a District Attorney Senior Investigator. In June 2012, he was promoted to the rank of District Attorney Supervising Investigator becoming the first African American promoted to that rank in their history. On December 24, 2016, after a exciting and satisfying career in law enforcement he retired honorably. He is a licensed private investigator and author.
