Book Synopsis

The following letters were handwritten by Dad, William Walter (Billy) Doar. Many were written from the war zone off the Pacific Island of Iwo Jima, a Japanese stronghold. Iwo Jima was one of the fiercest battles of World War II. Dad was a private person so I question whether he would approve of disclosing the contents of these personal letters. However, after reading them, I believe it important to share them since they give wonderful insights into the thoughts, concerns and frustrations of one of many brave men facing a fanatical enemy during World War II.
