Dr. Akhavan's work in the field of mass communication extends into a wide range of related areas, including international affairs, peace studies, gender issues, and spirituality in the 21st century. She is a frequent speaker at national and international forums and radio and television programs. Dr. Akhavan has lived and worked in four different cultures: Persian, American, Japanese, and Chinese. She currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
