He is the author of the acclaimed <i>Captains of Consciousness</i>, <i>Channels of Desire</i>, and <i>All Consuming Images</i>, the last of which provided the basis for Bill Moyers's award-winning PBS series <i>The Public Mind</i>. He lives in New York City.
