Its name drives from a combination of Tobler and torrone, the Italian for nougat. Emil Baumann created the unique recipe consisting of milk chocolate, nougat, almonds and honey, and Theodor Tobler came up with the distinctive triangular shape and packaging. It's commonly thought that the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps was the source of Theodor Tobler's inspiration for the shape but according to his sons it came from a pyramid created by dancers at the Folies Bergères. Every Toblerone bar consumed across the world still originates from the only Toblerone factory in the world, in Bern-Brünnen.
