She is a frequent gear writer for REI and has bylines in publications like The Washington Post, Afar, Men's Journal, Backpacker, Outside, Sierra, and more. Heather is also the co-founder of WildKind, a digital membership community dedicated to engaging and educating families to get outside in a meaningful way. An enthusiastic hiker, backcountry skier, backpacker, and trail runner, she lives in Carbondale, Colorado with her husband, daughter, and rescue dog.
