Vintners celebrate the hummingbird, given its territorial natural and ability to chase away other grape-eating birds. Black-Chinned Hummingbirds are one of nearly 20 US species. The females are somewhat difficult to distinguish, however the males have an entirely black chin (like a beard!). Winemaker Stephen Tebb makes his Syrah deep, dark and concentrated. Smoky and meaty, this wine is loaded with flavors of red plums, blueberries and blackberries. A finish with notes of vanilla and coffee rounds out a very long finish. Black-Chinned Syrah will pair nicely with roasted pork, grilled lamb or a cheese plate with parmigiano-Reggiano, dry jack and peppered goat cheese.
