Book Synopsis

This is the first trilingual publication of Les ambassades du vide, a series of poems written by Francis Coffinet and first published in bilingual (French and Spanish) edition in 2010. As usual, this well-known contemporary French poet, produces precise, tactile verses which convey an image of contact, love and appropriation. In clinical language describing the conquest of each object of desire, he incises, severs and exalts in often startling images.

The English translation by James W. Haenlin is remarkable for its faithfulness and poetic character. This passionate translator of francophone poetry possesses a sensitivity to the vocabulary and rhythms of both French and English expression rarely found; a sensitivity which allows him to capture and convey the full impact of the original text.

The Spanish translation by Myriam Montoya shows the same qualities. A poet, novelist and translator Montoya is well equipped to achieve the finest translation of the poems into her mother tongue.
