Danto is professor emeritus of philosophy at Columbia University. He is the art critic for the <i>Nation</i> and has served as president of the American Philosophical Association. His many books include <i>After the End of Art, Nietzsche as Philosopher, </i> and <i>Art in the Historical Present, </i> which won the National Book Critics Circle Award. In 2003, he was awarded the coveted Prix Philosophe.Jonathan Gilmore is assistant professor of philosophy at Yale University.
