Brody is autistic and enjoys his routines and his friends. What if he doesn't have any friends at this school? What if he doesn't like this school? Join Brody as he discovers strength from within and the courage to try new things-like eating broccoli and singing songs with new friends including a sloth with ASD and epilepsy and a butterfly with Down Syndrome.

.

There's a scene in this book that stood out to me and stuck. Toward the beginning, a teacher sees Brody ran away to the playground to run and play rather than going inside. Instead of redirecting him inside, she JOINS in on the fun, shoots off rocket balloons that sail across the sky, and earns Brody's trust. He willingly and comfortably then walks inside the school.

.

I'm thrilled to have the Brody The Lion books in our home library, and I'm hopeful for more!

.

Written by Dr. Kristin Wegner and illustrated by Alexandra Garcia.
