Native to West Africa from Nigeria to the Congo, Greendigs™ Snake Plants are also commonly known as St. George’s Sword and Mother-in-law’s tongue. The snake plant is a forgiving, low-maintenance plant that’s great for beginners. As semi-succulents, they thrive in low humidity environments and varied light settings. So, it’s actually better to let the soil your snake plant lives in get a little bit dry in between waterings. Though lots of sunshine is ideal, snake plants will adapt well to low light and artificial light settings. But bright sunlight is most similar to the arid, sunny environments where snake plants naturally grow and they will flourish better in that type of environment. The most amazing thing about snake plants is that, unlike most indoor houseplants which release oxygen during the day, they release oxygen at night. So it's often recommended to place these plants in your bedroom or other sleeping areas.
