Dr. Bronner passed away in 1997. The business continues to be run by his family. No detergents. We develop personal-care products that are as organic and fair trade as possible. We never use synthetic detergent-based foaming agents or preservatives. Sometimes this mean finding suitable natural alternatives to common synthetic ingredients, such as shikakai, an ancient Indian seed pod extract that has worked wonders on skin and hair for millenia.
