Join Bertie as he attempts to prove the grumpy school custodian is a vampire, finds himself modeling the latest fashions, and gets a serious scare-cut at the barbers.

Review Quotes

...a fun, lively early reader. . . .Junie B. can skootch right over and make room on the shelf for Bertie.-- "Kids Books Central"

A delight to read at storytime with my children. Between the ages of four and eleven, this book was a hit for all....including me: ) Fun and frisky, with enough mystery to really spark the imaginations of my young readers.-- "NetGalley Review"

Dirty Bertie was an enjoyable read with my 8 year old son, who frequently laughed out loud. The writing is simple enough for a new reader to handle, yet complex enough to not be boring to an adult reading to a child. Definitely a fun book, and I look forward to reading more in this series.-- "NetGalley Review"

Humorous illustrations and super-funny texts will keep readers' attention as Bertie makes choices that will elicit massive giggles. In Fangs, his classmates dress up like their favorite book characters, and Bertie discovers that his costume as a vampire is the same as the one worn by the school janitor. What is troubling to Bertie is he knows the janitor really is a vampire and he must prove it. In the next story, he is due for a haircut and decides to have a friend do it. Finally, Bertie disappears at the mall and ends up in a fashion show. His taste of the runway goes awry as he ends up plowing into the other models with his skateboard. In Germs!, three short stories unfold as Bertie tries to get out of going to school by catching his sister's chicken pox, discovers itching powder as he dances with his grandmother in a competition, and gets to have the babysitter every kid dreams about when Kevin's apathy toward babysitting results in a free-for-all for Bertie. Fans of Dav Pilkey, Lincoln Peirce, and Jeff Kinney will gravitate toward these short stories with strong boy appeal. Reluctant readers and children looking for beginning chapter books will find Bertie entertaining, grossness and all.-- "School Library Journal"

Readers that are struggling with reading, and with books that do not hold their interest, will be entertained with Fangs! I think it will particularly speak to young boys and girls that are high on imagination and short on patience. . . .Bertie's sheer enthusiasm will capture the interest of most readers willing to give him the time.-- "Sharon the Librarian blog"

The stories are humorous and will appeal to boys, young or old. The drawings are cute. It's a good introduction to multi-chapter stories for kids who don't like to read.-- "Second Bookshelf on the Right blog"

There are lots of things that will appeal to young readers: an energetic male character, a little big of gross-out stuff (but nothing that's too gross), and high-action situations that spiral out of control but (spoiler alert?) always seem to come out okay. . . .This is a book series to consider for classroom, school, and public libraries.-- "Crowding the Book Truck blog"
