She has been NI Arts Council recognized and gained an international reputation as a storyteller, having appeared in storytelling festivals in America, New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland, and England. Doreen was awarded a silver medal by the University Of South Carolina for services as Storyteller in Residence. in 1993. She is a member of Children's Books Ireland (CBI) and is the author of <i>North of Ireland Folk Tales for Children</i>. She lives in Banbridge.
