When the quarters Arthur has collected for Mrs. MacGrady's charity drive mysteriously disappear, Buster is committed to cracking the case. Will Buster be able to prove Arthur's innocence so that he can attend the class picnic?

Review Quotes

From School Library Journal

Grade 2-3. A beginning chapter book that's based on the series created by Marc Brown. Arthur's friend Buster recounts an episode in which Arthur is falsely accused of stealing a bag of quarters from a school fund drive. Buster solves the case just in time for Arthur to attend the third-grade picnic from which he had been banned. The black-and-white illustrations are not as engaging as children have come to expect from the colorful picture books. However, the chapter-book format will appeal to slightly older fans of the appealing aardvark and his friends.

Eunice Weech, M. L. Then I'll tell you a little about it. It all started when Arthur collected money for Ms. MacGrady, the lunch lady, to help b Ms. MacGrady because she was trying to raise money to buy a dog for the fire department. Arthur volunteers to help her raise the money. Someone stole the quarters that Arthur collected to help Ms. MacGrady. Buster thinks that Arthur stole the quarters. Will Buster find out what happened to the quarters?

Our favorite part is when Arthur gets a high score. It reminds me (Lorenzo) of when I got a high score on a Nintendo 64 game. We liked the book because it was funny. We liked the book because everybody tried to help out. I (Michael) like the book because Buster tries to help out and tries to act like a detective. That was my favorite part.

This book is a good book for people who like detective stories. This is also a good book if you like to solve cases as you read. This book is a detective book.

Lorenzo A. (age 8) and Michael M. (age 9) - Copyright (c) 1999 Happy Medium Productions, Inc.
