This is the French version directed by Christophe Gans. After the sinking of its ships, a ruined merchant must go into exile in the country with his six children. Among them is Belle, the youngest of her daughters, joyful and full of grace. During a tiring journey, the Merchant discovers the magical domain of the Beast who condemns him to death for stealing a rose. Feeling responsible for the terrible fate that befell her family, Belle decides to sacrifice herself in the place of her father. In the castle of the Beast, it is not death that awaits Belle, but a strange life, where the moments of fairy, joy, and melancholy mingle. Every evening, at dinner time, Belle and the Beast meet. They learn to discover themselves, to subdue themselves as two foreigners who oppose each other. While she must repel her loving impulses, Belle tries to pierce the mysteries of the Beast and her domain. Once night falls, dreams reveal to him in bits and pieces the past of the Beast. A tragic story, which teaches him that this solitary and ferocious being was once a majestic Prince. Armed with her courage, fighting all dangers, opening her heart, Belle will succeed in freeing the Beast from its curse. And in doing so, discover true love.
