But when the emperor's son tastes the mooncakes on the day of the Mid-Autumn Harvest Festival, they are horrible and bitter, strangely mirroring the odd, gloomy atmosphere that has washed over the village.
In order to clear his name, Mei and Yun set out on foot for the long journey to the emperor's palace, where their grandfather will be imprisoned. Along the way they meet a powerful poet whose enchanted words spread curses and who makes them a pact: expose a past royal injustice and the poet will remove the curse that has ensnared their grandfather.
Seamlessly weaving together folklore, palace intrigue, and historical detail, G. Z. Schmidt delivers an unforgettable adventure set in the Ming Dynasty about sibling bonds and the importance of the past. The beautifully illustrated cover by artist Feifei Ruan shows the twins riding a floating cloud, whose softly curved edges shine with printed gloss. An enchanting experience, The Dreamweavers is perfect for young fantasy readers.

Review Quotes

★ The book resonates with excitement and fantasy as Mei and Yun experience magic firsthand while using their wits and brainpower. . . .
