Vinyl LP pressing. Formed in 1974 in New York and disbanded in 1982, The Salsoul Orchestra was the house band of Salsoul Records. This prime disco big band was a big influence on inspiring club house music, fusing Philly soul, funk and Latin music in a danceable disco sound. The Salsoul Orchestra included up to 50 members at times with it's instrumental section, arrangers and conductors. Vincent Montana, Jr. Wrote, arranged, conducted, produced and played on all of the orchestra's tracks until 1978 including this gold-selling 1976 Christmas album, Christmas Jollies. In addition to funky takes on traditional holiday fare like "The Little Drummer Boy," "Sleigh Ride" and "Silent Night," the collection includes a pair of spirited medleys and a few originals for good measure.
