She has a BA in health science, is an EMT, and danced ballet for 14 years. She is the author of many books for young readers, including <i>The Dress and the </i><i>Girl</i>. <b>Amy Bates</b> is the illustrator of many books for children, including <i>Gittel's Journey, Minette's Feast, </i>and <i>The Dog Who Belonged to No One.</i> She lives in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
