Nomar ha sido influenciado por todo tipo de arte, especialmente la animación, marionetas, y el arte digital. Estudió animación en computadora y pintura en Bowling Green State University en Ohio, y desde entonces trabaja como ilustrador en productos de expresión social en las categorías de humor, niños y jóvenes adultos. Nomar también ha ilustrado varios libros de cuentos para niños y publicaciones escolares. De aquí como el Coqui, es su estreno como autor-ilustrador.
