Book Synopsis

Not so many lifetimes ago, we lived in kin tribes where community interests were aligned according to the principle of inclusive fitness--kin skin in the game--that bioincentivized eusociality. Kin skin in the game, however, has failed to scale as a bioalgorithm of eusociality during globalization. Today, the aggregate sum of self-interests adds up to something other than a great society. Fake news, fake foods, and fake politicians are catalyzed by the same underlying force of exclusive stakeholding associated with low alignment of interests among strangers. Essays on Eusociality and Dissociality explores these two forms of tribalism through the lens of evolutionary history and human history to offer readers new ways to think about their experiences as well as our collective ones. This book also guides readers on potential ways to move forward in the interconnected age: Inclusive Stakeholding, the philosophical principle of fostering stakeholding in an inclusive manner as a way to align interests broadly. Essays on Eusociality and Dissociality offers a hope for imagining a better world in the interconnected age.

About the Author

Dr. Joon Yun is president of Palo Alto Investors LP, a hedge fund founded in 1989.
