Después de ejercer diversos oficios, decidió dedicarse a la escritura y a la realización cinematográfica. En la actualidad Daniela Krien vive en Leipzig con su marido y sus dos hijas. <p/>Su primera novela, <i>Algún día nos lo contaremos todo </i>(Salamandra, 2013), obtuvo el prestigioso Junger Literaturpreis y fue finalista del Leser Buchpreis, el premio de los lectores alemanes. Se tradujo a quince idiomas y la directora Emily Atef prepara su adaptación cinematográfica.
