Rabbit Lily and her adventurous mouse friend, Milo, confront a variety of winter scenarios--going outside, what to wear or take outdoors, and how to warm up. Outside they find frozen ground, bare trees, and hungry birds. As it starts to snow heavily, they feed the birds and start a snowman until Milo, shivering with cold, realizes he has lost his hat, scarf, and mittens. Brightly colored, outlined characters with simply drawn expressions lead this romp, while sentences are structured to emphasize new words, offer brief dialogue between characters, and support new vocabulary through groups of items to wear or bring outside. Window views to the quickly changing weather encourage page turns; Oud provides visual clues to reveal the loss and location of Milo's missing articles of clothing. This suggested general purchase for all libraries is well designed for language development and early reading, and could be an especially useful addition as a brief lesson on winter for the very young. - School Library Journal
Winter with Lily & Milo is a super-cute story focusing on the joys of winter. This title is perfect to read to young children or for a storytime selection. - Tashia Miller (librarian)

This one is so freaking cute and I am missing my favourite season already!!!! This one is pretty basic as an activity book teaching kids about the basic winter clothings and what fun activities we can do during a cold winter day! I love the illustrations. They are so adorable! I love the snow art (I am missing my childhood days now!). The birds, the snow, the snowman, the fun! I just adore this picture book! - Reading Tamishly

About the Author

Pauline Oud, born in 1963 in Hilversum, The Netherlands, has been working as an illustrator for over 15 years now. After her graduation from art school in 1985 she worked as an artist and art teacher for a while before applying her knowledge to her first love; children's books. Before she starts working, she likes to start her days with an hour running to clear her head and think about her drawings. She likes to collect children's books because they give her so much inspiration. When she is out of inspiration, she also likes to visit the Museum of Medieval Art to stare at the books her colleagues have illustrated some 700 years ago. She currently lives in Utrecht (the Netherlands) with her husband and her two children Roos and Walt.
