The first, 2018's "Silent Night," was set in biblical times, but here Ms. Hawthorne uses a present-day setting for a song first published in 1780. "On the first day of Christmas / my true love sent to me: / a partridge in a pear tree," we read, as a young woman plucks a pear from the beribboned potted tree that has appeared outside her house. With lots of details for little ones to seek and find, this handsome book will give parents all the excuse they need to do a bit of singing by the tree."
--Wall Street Journal

About the Author

Lara Hawthorne is an illustrator based in Bristol, UK.
