Book Synopsis

This annual Bible lesson commentary by the Gospel Advocate was designed to be used in company with the GA quarterlies: Foundations for adults and Horizons for teens. But it was primarily designed to be used in company with the Bible and is not complete apart from the Word of God. The topics covered for 2014-2015 offer a renewed emphasis on basic biblical doctrines and practices for life. The four quarters are based on the overall theme "God's Plan for Us." Fall: Some truths are so essential that each person must be grounded in those principles. This quarter presents the importance of the Word, inspiration, basic history, salvation, the Christ and the church. These we believe. Winter: Building on the foundational truths studied last quarter, these studies now turn to some basic doctrines held and taught in the church for all Christians. These include the oneness of the church, the Holy Spirit, authority, grace, faith, obedience, repentance, confession and baptism. These we teach. Spring: With this quarter's emphasis on worship and our participation in it, these in-depth studies enable us to re-examine concepts and practices we have studied before, but now we seek to renew our emphasis on each one. These we do. Summer: These lessons will focus on fellowship, preaching, teaching and serving; at the same time, we must understand church structure; anticipate the return of Jesus; and give serious thought to judgment, heaven and hell. These we recognize. Companion is available for class use in order to provide a deeper study that can challenge the modern student to appreciate God's plan and desire for His people.
